Before seeking mold clean up and removal, you may opt to have your air tested and analyzed by an independent third-party laboratory.The independent laboratory will identify the various types of mold and amount of mold that was captured in the sample. This same service can be applied to Bulk Sampling (to take a sample that can be removed and sent to the lab, such as, moldy insulation, drywall, carpet, etc...), Tape Sampling (to take a sample on a surface that cannot be removed such as, upholstry fabric, drywall, cement wall, etc...) and vacuum sampling. These samples can be taken as an additional diagnostic tool to assist your medical professional determine the cause of your health problems as they relate to indoor air quality.
Air testing can be useful in many scenarios. For example, allergy suffers can be tested by their doctor for the specific types of allergens that were found in their air or carpet. Homeowners can determine the level of mold spores in their home to better inform them of further corrective actions. Air tests have also been used for legal issues involving the possible presence of mold in the home.
AllerGenie™ always recommends a standard inspection before deciding on air testing. Traditionally, a trained eye will be able to determine whether or not a mold problem exists without air testing. Once you talk with your Certified Inspector regarding his or her findings from the initial inspection, you can then decide whether or not you would like to proceed with air testing.
